David Frantz Cameraman the Dream Wedding Videographer

January 22nd, 2013 Reynolds Treasures
Photos are a standard staple to weddings.  Everyone immediately thinks of the wedding photos.  But the real WOW is in the video.  Where you can re-experience the emotions and words as they are spoken.  Actions and hearing the words are so much more powerful than the still shots.  Many couples have steered away from video saying it was out of their budget.  Like me introduce David Frantz Cameraman!  He is experienced, professional, yet fun…  and most importantly he is very affordable!
Here is his interview:
My name is David Frantz, man of two towns, living simultaneously in Fairfax, SC and Mt. Pleasant, SC and we travel back and forth weekly. Typically weekends are spent in Mt. Pleasant, but work and travel take me where I need to go when I need to go.  Fairfax is in the middle of a lot potential wedding sites, Savannah, Hilton Head, Augusta, Aiken, Columbia, Charleston, Kiawah, and Seabrook, are less than two hours travel. My business has undergone many transformations over the past 30 years. The present configuration allows me to live with my true love almost all the time so it’s the best yet. She’s happy; I’m happy. I provide photography and video services for many consumer and commercial customers. The bulk of my work involves creating both video and still images. My skills include portrait, and event photography, editing photos, making photo books, slide shows, and images published in websites online. In years past, I’ve been employed as a college public relations photographer, television news videographer/editor, and television commercial producer for cable and broadcast. My specialty has always been recording live, once in a lifetime events. For seven years, with a partner, I operated a storefront business in Mt. Pleasant where we also offered consumer and business services, conversion of different media, old tapes, films, slides, audio, to new media along with photography and video production services. I can still do all of those tasks, but choose to promote my services as photographer, video filmmaker, including weddings, funerals, and everything between. I have mentored a few young photographers and taught basic photography and video production in a number of school settings including Colleton County’s Gifted and Talented program.  I still enjoy working with children recording performances or helping with school projects. Most of my experience over the past twenty years has been with weddings, videotaping & editing, photographing and designing albums.

After studying filmaking and photographic design in college, doing weddings professionally  started for me in 1987 with a portrait studio in Mt. Pleasant. I left there to take a job as a television commercial producer and then went back on my own.  I gave my DVD Video Production Services business to my former business partner three years ago and have no regrets about any of it.

I want to be a part of this event because I love this work but I haven’t been doing very much to promote wedding video work in several years and would appreciate the chance to do more. For the couple, I am a going to make a great video for them to enjoy, share with their family now, and the new family they will have in the future. In addition to providing DVDs, I will upload the wedding to vimeo.com so anyone may revisit the event.

My business’ legal location is at my home/studio in Mt. Pleasant, SC at this time, but my car is often packed with cameras, mikes, lighting, camera supports, and computer equipment, in transit to the next job.

I usually don’t charge for travel within an hour’s travel from two home towns, and all travel beyond that is negotiable. Destination wedding jobs in the past include Lake Ontario, Canada, Red Rock Canyon, CO, New Jersey, Houston, Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina. In February of 2014, I will photograph a wedding at the Green Cathedral in New South Wales, Australia.

My  photography and video work is very customized to the wants and needs of my customers, packages have included engagement portraits, video love stories, slide shows, rehearsal party photos and videos, as well as day of events, including wedding preparations, ceremonies, receptions, and honeymoons. I recently created a set of boudoir portraits for one of my wedding video customers from twenty years ago, so I am up for most anything. Lately, making dancing scenes from a wedding video into an animated flip book using flipclips.com has been a hoot.

I am blessed to know that being a cameraman and an editor is what I am meant to do. I’ve been given some talents in these areas and have worked hard many years to enhance those gifts. I appreciate share my talents to create memories and enhance memories.
